Review | Diorskin Star Foundation

12 November 2014

Every magazine I flick through, blog I go on, and even Instagram post I click on, I see this. So really it is no wonder why I also had to get my hands on it. Buying foundation for me has to be the trickiest thing ever as shade hunting is long long long! What I mean, in english, is that I can never get my perfect shade so I sometimes have to mix or I can't have that specific foundation. This review has been sitting in my drafts for the longest time and the foundation has now been out for a couple months. I have had it for around a month but I have taken a while to review because I wanted to give you the most honest review.

My Experience

The shades I grabbed in the Diorskin Star Foundation were 040 Dark Beige and 050 Honey Beige, and it comes in 16 different shades in total. Just like the name suggests, this foundation is really a Star. The packaging is sleek just like all the other Dior products, and it comes with a pump which makes it easy to apply. I must tell you now, one pump of this and it covered my whole face which was really good.

I use a damp Beauty Blender to apply this and the application is smooth and even. I feel it covers enough to still leave you with a natural look without the cakey looking skin and is very light on the skin too, and this has been a problem for me before as I feel Mac foundations make me feel like I am wearing a mask! I have even worn this on 20 hour days and it is probably the only foundation that leaves me with a glow as well as stays put throughout the day (I do use a Mac MSN powder over it) so I was pretty pleased with this as I never carry any makeup with me except lip products so I can't reapply during the day.

I love how with this foundation I don't get the horrid dreaded flashback I sometimes get taking a selfie, as this foundation was formulated despite still having a 30+ SPF. It captures the light so well I literally have to compare it to a halo. The scent is amazing and isn't so noticeable after a couple of minutes, and the fact it stayed put all day means that this foundation is now one of my grails! Another amazing thing I have noticed is that it doesn't leave me with a greasy looking nose throughout the day which is amazing as I don't need to blot *Winning!* and I find this so annoying to the point I try to avoid wearing foundation.

Does it Oxidise on the skin?

I have been asked this quite a lot and to answer your question... I have read other reviews which have said it tends to on them, however, I think this is all down to skin types and as I have Normal to Combination skin which stays the same shade throughout the whole wear of it.

Overall I find this foundation amazing, and judging by the pump to face ratio it looks like it will last quite a while so don't be alarmed by the price. You really get what you paid for with this one. You can grab this foundation from department stores such as House of Fraser and Debenhams as well as Boots for £32.

Have you tried or are considering using the Diorskin Star Foundation? Let me know your thoughts in the comment box x

Travel Diary | A Parisian Getaway

5 November 2014

So last week I went on a long weekend away to Paris and I must tell you this now, I am probably one of few people that has never really had paris on their 'to go list'. But off we packed and went! It was lovely to get away for a short while, and it is such a beautiful city which I think EVERYONE needs to visit at least once. The trip was mainly to go to Disneyland Resort Paris, which we went for two days, and used the arrival and departure days to sightsee HOWEVER it was so hard to get around as everything is far on foot (a 45 minute walk is a 10 minute drive) so we ended up spending a fortune on taxi's alone. Another thing was the queue's for everything we're at least 30 to two hours long, and when you're with a small child it's something mythical.  Disney was amazing, that is something I can go every year and not get bored, you would think it is just for kids but there was more for the adults to do than children I think.

It was a lovely trip regardless but, in my opinion, nothing beats my beloved London. Would I return? Most probably, but I would plan my trip way better and make sure I locate a Starbucks everywhere, as I didn't have one decent coffee at all in the whole four days.

Somebody wasn't too amused with this ride!

Currently Loving | Fluffy Faux

2 November 2014

It's like a ritual to treat myself to a warm furry coat every winter, and this year there are loads of amazing ones on the high street that I am totally in love with. I purchased mine (also listed below) quite early this year when I first saw it, but I've already have my eye on the amazing printed ones I have seen around lately. My current fave brand has to be Story Of Lola as there are so many quirky prints that clash in such a good way! I will leave you with a couple of my favourite ones I have spotted this month!

Fall Semester Wears

17 October 2014

University started once again this month for me and lately I have had a bit of a wardrobe crisis and purchased so much (too much that I refuse to blog about as it may seem like the usual 'bragging'). If you know me you will know that I am forever changing how I dress and can vary some day to day but this month I'm all about cute and casual.

Here are some of my favourite day to day items for the Fall/Autumn semester and let's just say I own quite a lot of what is posted and they are all pretty easy to piece with other things as well as together!

Review | Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrows

9 October 2014

A lot of people have been messaging me about my brow routine lately and to be honest, I don't have one. I have always had quite full (not thick) eyebrows and how I see it nothing beats a good thread to have them looking fab... If done by the correct person that is. After years of using Mac's Brow Pencil in Spiked and Benefit's Brow Zings palette occasionally,  I felt as if my routine was boring, and that my eyebrows were looking too sharp and overly drawn in instead of the usual natural look I was going for. So in April I finally gave in to this brand as I had heard so much about it via Youtube, blogs and Instagram and went all out and purchased the Brow Powder, Two Brow Wiz and the new and famous Dipbrow. It has taken me this long to review it because not only are there three products my how I feel towards my brows changes all the time and I wanted this to be as correct as possible, so now that it's been three months I feel more comfortable giving you my honest opinion.

Brow Wiz
This rivals Mac's Spiked pencil most certainly, however despite the amazing brunette colour with no reddish undertones and the brush end to help spread product to even out product, I felt that this pencil was not so steady when holding it which seems to bother me a lot.
Brow Powder
The simplicity of this is what makes it great, it comes with two powders to give you an easy gradient eyebrow, avoiding the dreaded scousebrow but in all fairness you could easily use an eyeshadow powder for the same effect. What makes this different to the rest is its staying power which for a powder did surprise me.
Dipbrow Pomade
I get along with the product so well. At first it was really tricky as it was a formula and texture that I wasn't used to however a little goes a long way and the application of it is getting better. This to outline and the Brow Powder to fill in is the perfect combo.
Overall Opinion:
I find they are all great but it depends on the person and the brow. For me the DipBrow is my favourite but I do have my days where I will feel to reach for a different product instead of the usual so I find it very handy to have all.
Where Can I Buy?

If you are UK based or EU most of the products can be purchased from online stockists such as Net APorter, Cult Beauty as the products are still very new to our markets so limited retailers. For US based they are available from Nordstrom and Sephora and possibly many more.

Review | September Glossybox

24 September 2014

So after receiving this months Birchbox and it once again being such a shambles I decided to cancel it so I no longer receive it and move on to the original Glossybox like I did. So after two years I dusted off the cobwebs from my subcription and hit the renew button last month. Firstly, I would like to comment on the simple fact that with Glossybox you will know when exactly you will receive your box (usually a two to three day stretch) unlike Birchbox which makes things super easier for me. As usual it came beautifully packaged and I have totally missed how lush the pink boxes look. I did have a review set up for the previous August edition but I had to delete it due to it now being september (sorry ladies!)

So this month Glossybox have teamed up with Fashion brand Karen Millen to create a box to celebrate London Fashion Week and let me tell you from now this one is a fab one! Inside I got 3 full sized products, one deluxe sample and three sachet samples.  I haven't tried any of the products but four are from known brands which is really good.

This Months Contents:

1. SkinPep Enzyme and Acid Peep & Peeling Gel (3 sachets) - £89.99 (Full sized) HERE
2. Nails inc Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat (Full Size) - £12 HERE
3. Nivea 3in1 Micellar Cleansing Water (Full Size) - £4.07 HERE
4. ModelCo MORE BROWS Fibre Gel (Full Size) - £14.95 HERE (now cheaper)
5. L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil (45ml) - £15.95 (Full Sized) HERE

I loved this months box so much that I am curious about what will come in the October box, which is a Pop Art Themed box and will contain a full sized NUXE Masque Crème Fraîche worth £19.50 and als a little birdie told me that a Harvey Nichols Collab should be happening before the end of this year (November/December).

Overall the size of the products as well as the variety is amazing, and unlike Birchbox (sorry to keep comparing one to another) It takes skin tones more into considerations by giving you products that are for anyone instead of specific shades only suitable for their caucasian audience. The Glossybox is £10 per month as well as a £3.25 shipping fee via Royal Mail I have added a direct link Here.

Have you got a glossybox subscription or are thinking of getting one?

Illamasqua Glamore Nude Collection

21 September 2014

You can never really go wrong with a nude lip shade, and when Illamasqua introduced these I was pretty curious. I love a nude lip, but finding perfect nudes is usually a challenge for me. I haven't tried anything from the brand before but I have a friend who always raves about it so I thought why not. Lately, I have been trying to detach myself from buying so many MAC lipsticks and try other brands more as it is something I don't usually do. Because I'm so used to the pigmentation of Mac's lippies as well as swatches from more known bloggers are usually available before releases, I feel that I don't have to take so much of a risk when it comes to purchasing.

From left to right: Starkers & Minx
These lipsticks come in 7 different nude shades - Rosepout, Minx, Naked, Cherub, Starkers, Tease and Buff, which are meant to compliment a range of different complexions. The formula feels very thick when applying and creamy at the same time so it's as if you don't need to apply it again to get the most out of the shades. Usually Illamasqua go for such bold and vivid shades so this is a nicer and softer approach with their shades. I managed to get my hands on two of the shades; Minx and Starkers and they are totally different to one another shade wise.

Top: Minx Bottom: Starkers
This shade is a pinky mauve nude very similar to the Kylie Jenner craze however more to the rosier side. Application was smooth but it does look quite glossy once applied. I also felt as if my lips looked rather pouty also.
Nude of all nudes and I was surprised how easy I could pull this one off. It is well pigmented so no need to apply layers cause this colour pay off is AHMAZE! It also looks quite matte unlike minx.

Overall they are both easy to apply, super creamy with no mess either. I loved how they felt on my lips and I have no idea on the durability of them as i haven't worn them out yet but I feel as if they should last with a slick of LipCoat over them.

You can buy both of these shades as well as the collection including the other 5 nudes from Debenhams and Selfridges

Have you been eyeing up the Glamore Nudes? Whats your favorite shade?

Beauty Haul | September

19 September 2014

It's been a while since I have done a haul and I hate having to show you what I managed to grab all in a post because it seems ever so long for to read, but for now it will do and I promise, within the next couple of weeks I will be making things much easier for you all by adding a little something extra to most of my posts. Well as you can see, I did go high street crazy (mostly) this month and the previous one as I felt as if I was spending too much on high end products and no longer exploring the beauty treasures we can usually find in our lovely drugstores. I will add a product list to the end of this post and have reviews on MOST of what I purchased for you within the coming weeks.

Some of August's amazing buys as I did have a haul for August but I have been so busy that August passed and I guess that (along with many scheduled posts) expired, So I have added them in to this post, I went away in August and managed to get a chance to rummage the beloved Sephora however I did not really find anything we didn't have back in the UK. Autumn Wants

28 August 2014

It is clear that the good weather is pretty unlikely to return and my online baskets and wishlists are filling up with loads of winter warmers. It seems as if I want it all lately even though I have promised to spend less on things I don't actually need because I am in the process of minimizing my wardrobe. The end of the year is approaching and all my scents seem to be either really summery or really warm so I need new fragrance, I have an eye test VERY soon and I know some new specs would be very much appreciated so its not all about clothes and pretty make up this month, there is literally a bit of everything on this months list. Here are a couple of amazing things I really really want from some of my favourite online stores.

10. Zara Wool Wrap Coat - £159
